The Mayor, with the advice and consent of Council, shall appoint the Vice Mayor, the Director of Finance, the City Clerk, The Recreation Commission, the Municipal Civil Service Commission, the Human Rights Commission, and the Board of Zoning Appeals.

The Mayor also appoints the Members of the Development Committee and other committees of Council, and the Mayor's Advisory Commission on Economic and Industrial Development.

Mayor Sparachane was re-elected in May of 2004. This is his second term as Mayor of the City of Wheeling. The City of Wheeling allows Mayors to serve no more than two (2) consecutive four-year terms.
