MUNICIPAL CIVIL SERVICE

The Municipal Civil Service Commission will be giving an examination for Water Treatment Plant Operator Assistant.  The list established from this examination will be utilized for hiring for up to the next two (2) years.  
The WTP Operator Assistant will gain the necessary experience to secure higher level WTP Operator certification through on-the-job training in all stages of water treatment and pumping processes. 

Two years post high school education minimum.  One (1) year of experience in area of assignment preferred.  Mechanical ability with knowledge of pumps, filters, and associated equipment needed.  Good computer, math, and comprehension skills a must. 

Starting salary is $26,904 plus benefits with increase to $27,736 after six months. Must secure an OIT Licensure within one year of employment.  Must secure residency within the City of Wheeling or Ohio County within six (6) months of employment and maintain residency throughout employment. 

Only the applicants meeting the minimum qualifications and requirements for the position as noted above, will be contacted for the examination. 

Any full-time internal employee with the required qualifications interested in taking this examination must complete a Municipal Civil Service Commission classified application and return to the Human Resources Department, Room 301, City-County Building, no later than 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2008.
